Nascete has Arrived: she is the Third Child from Guinea Bissau who will be operated and treated in Italy
The co-operation between the Community of Sant'Egidio and the Policlinic Hospital of Padua continues. Nascete N., a two years old child, arrived in Italy on October 26th: she is suffering from a serious hydrocephalus and has come to Italy to be operated. She is the third child - in one year - who can receive a treatment that would be impossible in her own country.

Nascete N. is almost two years old and she is from Bissau. When she was only 4 months old she contracted a serious form of meningitis and it was not possible to cure her immediately. The illness has caused a serious hydrocephaly with all the dramatic consequences it brings with it.

Last summer Nascete was examined and taken care of by the paediatric ambulatory of the Community of Sant'Egidio in Bissau. It was clear that she was in need to undergo an operation, which was impossible in her country. For this reason on the 26th October Nascete has left her country to come to Italy, where the same doctors of the Community who examined and cured her last summer are waiting for her. In a short time the child will undergo an operation at the Hospital of Padua, thanks to a by now established agreement with the Community of Sant'Egidio. In the next year other 5 children, with illnesses which cannot be cured in Guinea Bissau, are expected to come to Italy in order to receive the necessary treatment.
