March in Memory of the Jews Deportation

On 27 November, the Community of Sant�Egidio in W�rzburg and the Jewish Community commemorated the deportation of the W�rzburg Jews, which began on 27 November 1941.

60 years after the first deportation of more than 200 W�rzburg Jews, among whom also 40 children, more than one thousand people participated in the memory march that passed through the centre of the city and reached the place where the Jews were gathered to begin their sad trip to death.

In an atmosphere of great emotion, people heard the speeches of the new Rabbi of W�rzburg, of the President of the Jewish Community and of the representative of the Community of Sant�Egidio. They all stressed the importance of keeping memory alive.
