Memory of the Deportation
of the Jews of Wrzburg

The deportation of the Jews to the Nazi lagers began in Wurzburg on November 27th 1941. This memory is celebrated by the Community of Sant'Egidio that, together with the Jewish Community, has been organising a memory march for the last three years.

Nearly 2000 people, among whom the highest civil and religious authorities, crossed the city to the place where the Jews were gathered before the journey towards the death camp. There the march stopped to listen to some testimonies from the deportees and to the speeches of the mayor, of the chief rabbi and of a representative of the Community of Sant'Egidio.

This event is particularly meaningful after some recent eposodes of anti-semitism.
