Shuchrat
was sentenced to death by the regional court of Tashkent on February
9th 2004. He had already spent some years in prison in the past.
He came back home, restored at
work, married and he had two babies, too. One day his brother had an
heart attack in his house. Shuchrat, strongly frightened, ran off to
his neighbours asking for help, but they began to mocking him,
instead of giving some aid, maybe due to a religious prejudice
against him, who is Muslim.
So they started fighting one
another. Everybody was wounded and then drove to the hospital by the
first aid. Furthermore, Shuchrat was arrested, without knowing what
was happened to his neighbours.
Then, according to his relatives,
he was forced to confess under torture an alleged murder. Now he is
dramatically in danger of being executed at any moment.

Your Excellency
I am writing to express my deep

even though his confession was allegedly achieved under torture.
I urge you to intervene on his behalf
to prevent this cruel and inhuman punishment from being meted out against
him.
I implore you to ensure that this
cruel and inhuman sentence is not carried out.
