His
story
 Bruce entered death row 16 years ago,
convicted of a murder he has always denied to have committed. His
request to be subjected to DNA test was rejected by Texas Supreme
Court, so his chance to face a new trial has faded away. On
the other hand, he could not afford a skilful attorney to be fairly
defended due to his poor conditions. His execution is set on May
15th 2003.
The
appeal to save Bruce
The
Community of Sant�Egidio invites everybody to share its appeal
aiming to spare Bruce�s life from the execution, sending the
following statement to the competent authorities of Texas, as it
occurred in the past, by fax or e-mail.

JACOBS, SENTENCED TO DEATH
Your
Excellency We are writing to express our deep concern over a ruling that
sentenced to death Mr. Bruce Jacobs, even though his request to be subjected
to DNA test to be able to show his innocence has been rejected. We urge you
to intervene on his behalf to prevent this cruel and inhuman punishment from
being meted out against him. We implore you to ensure that this cruel and
inhuman sentence is not carried out.
