Sadik was sentenced to death on December 7th 2003 due to an alleged murder he firmly denies he had ever committed, saying he was in a quite distant place at that time from the one where it was perpetrated. According to some witnesses, he suffered serious kinds of tortures by the policemen during the interrogations. They arrested even his mother for some days, trying to force her to confess inexistent evidences proving his supposed guilt, but they failed to get them from her. Now Sadik’s life is in grave danger, as he might be executed at any moment.

Urgent
appeal brought in by the Community of Sant’Egidio to save the life of Sadik
Kayumovich Kadirov, sentenced to death
Dear President
Your Excellency
I am
writing to express my deep concern over a ruling that sentenced to death Mr.
Sadik Kayumovich Kadirov, even though the alleged tortures he suffered to be
forced to confess the crimes he was convicted of, which he firmly rejects,
were never taken into consideration by the court’s verdict.
I urge
you to intervene on his behalf to prevent this cruel and inhuman punishment
from being meted out against him.
I implore
you to ensure that this cruel and inhuman sentence is not carried out.
