Sentenced
to death - Execution set on August 7th 2003
Execution
postponed
His
story
Rickey
Lynn Lewis is an afro-American man. He was sentenced to death in
1997 for an alleged murder committed seven years before. Today he is
detained in the death row of Livingston, Texas.
He
has always been claiming his innocence, saying that the DNA test was
tainted. Afterwards it came to be the main starting point of his
charge. Meanwhile, heavy circumstantial proofs weighing on other
people were not considered. Besides, Rickey was arrested after some
witnesses just based on circumstantial proofs and on some other ones
released by two drug smuggler, reasonably not so reliable. Moreover,
he says now he could prove that during his trial some witnesses on
his behalf written on policemen reports were mishandled and used
against him. Rickey's execution, that was earlier set on August 7th
2003, has been postponed. No new date is stated at the moment.
