The people all stood on the shore, and he told them many things in parables. He said, 'Listen, a sower went out to sow. As he sowed, some seeds fell on the edge of the path, and the birds came and ate them up. Others fell on patches of rock where they found little soil and sprang up at once, because there was no depth of earth; but as soon as the sun came up they were scorched and, not having any roots, they withered away. Others fell among thorns, and the thorns grew up and choked them. Others fell on rich soil and produced their crop, some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty. Anyone who has ears should listen!'" cMemoria = "" cOmelia = "The Gospel presents to us Jesus along the Sea of Galilee, forced into a boat because of the very large crowd gathered around him. He tells an important parable. And, a rare case in the Gospels, he explains it himself. The underlying meaning of the parable is clear: one must live by hearing the Gospel and not by one's own conceit. The sower goes out to sow and with broad strokes sows the seed. He does not seem to bother to choose the soil, since many seeds are lost. Only those that fall on good soil bear fruit. Even if he does not say it, Jesus compares himself to the sower. It is his, typically his, certainly not ours, the generosity in sowing the seed. That sower is not a measured calculator; and what is more, he seems to put his trust even in land that is more a road or a pile of stones than ploughed and available soil. No portion is discarded. The soil is the world, even that part of the world that is each of us. It is not difficult to recognise in the diversity of the soil the complexity of the world's situations and those of each of us. Jesus does not want to divide men and women into two categories, those who represent the good soil and others the bad. Each one of us sums up all the diversity of soil in the Gospel. Perhaps one day one is stonier and another less so; at other times one welcomes the Gospel but then allows oneself to be surprised by temptation; and at another time one listens and bears fruit. One thing is certain for everyone: there is a need for the sower to enter the soil, turn the clods, remove the stones, uproot the bitter weeds, and sow the seed with abundance. Whether stony or good, hardly matters, the soil must welcome the seed, that is, the Word of God, which is always a gift." %>
