In those days Judah will triumph and Israel live in safety. And this is the name the city will be called: Yahweh-is-our-Saving-Justice.""
cLettura2 = "May the Lord increase and enrich your love for each other and for all, so that it matches ours for you. And may he so confirm your hearts in holiness that you may be blameless in the sight of our God and Father when our Lord Jesus comes with all his holy ones. Finally, brothers, we urge you and appeal to you in the Lord Jesus; we instructed you how to live in the way that pleases God, and you are so living; but make more progress still. You are well aware of the instructions we gave you on the authority of the Lord Jesus."
cLetturaV = "'There will be signs in the sun and moon and stars; on earth nations in agony, bewildered by the turmoil of the ocean and its waves; men fainting away with terror and fear at what menaces the world, for the powers of heaven will be shaken. And then they will see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. When these things begin to take place, stand erect, hold your heads high, because your liberation is near at hand.' 'Watch yourselves, or your hearts will be coarsened by debauchery and drunkenness and the cares of life, and that day will come upon you unexpectedly, like a trap. For it will come down on all those living on the face of the earth. Stay awake, praying at all times for the strength to survive all that is going to happen, and to hold your ground before the Son of man.'"
cMemoria = "First Sunday of Advent
Memory of Saint Brother Charles of Jesus (Charles de Foucauld), the "universal brother," killed in 1916 in the Algerian desert where he lived in prayer and in fraternity with the Tuareg people."
cOmelia = "Jesus' words about the end of the time regard also our time. The Gospel warns us about the upheavals that will occur "in the sun, the moon, and the stars, and on the earth distress among confused nations." The vision includes humanity and the entirety of creation. It is the distress of the many nations still scarred by war and conflicts, the distress of the millions of people, young and old, who continue to suffer from hunger; the distress of those forced to flee from their homelands, who find no one to help or welcome them; the distress of the many elderly people who are abandoned and left alone. The number of the "people who die out of fear" and close up in themselves is growing. It is easy to fall into resignation and let the hope of a new world and a better life for oneself and for others fade.
The Lord did not give up hoping on men and women and changing their hearts; the jubilee time that we are preparing to live with the next opening of the Holy Door, reminds us of it in a special way. The time of Advent returns in this difficult time of human history in order to give back hope to a lost world; it returns to soften the hardened hearts, open the minds of those who think only of themselves, open the ears of those who listen only to their reasons, and open the eyes of those who do not look beyond themselves. Jesus exhorts us: "Stand up and raise your heads, because your redemption is drawing near." It is time to stand up. Jesus asks us to be awake, but not in that deaf wake of the inhabitants of Bethlehem who in their laziness did not open their doors to the coming Lord. Bitter is the notation of the evangelist: "There was no room for them."
This time of Advent is given us to help us stay awake, lift our eyes to the Lord and invoke his coming. May the coming days be a time of listening and reflection, love and fraternity. The Word of God be the lamp that illuminate our steps and the fire that will warm our hearts. We hear the Apostle Paul's blessing to the Thessalonians addressed also to us: "And may the Lord make you increase and abound in love for one another and for all, just as we abound in love for you" (1 Thess 3:12). This Advent is a new time of grace, a time to renew our heart and go towards our brothers and sisters and mostly towards the poor with open arms. to listen to the Gospel and renew our love for others. It is on this path that we will encounter the Lord. Let us insistently say: "Come, Lord Jesus!""
