si trova nel braccio della morte dal 1985, accusato di due omicidi di
cui si � sempre e risolutamente dichiarato innocente. Il test della
verit�, al quale � stato sottoposto due volte, ha confermato la sua
estraneit� ai fatti. Henry ha subito un processo ingiusto. Il testimone
che lo ha incriminato � stato assoggettato a forti pressioni
dall'accusa, e i suoi avvocati d'ufficio si sono rivelati incompetenti,
non avendo fatto valere elementi probatori attenuanti che lo avrebbero
scagionato. La sua esecuzione � purtroppo fissata il 12 settembre 2003.

Comunit� di Sant'Egidio, di concerto con l'Universit� degli Studi di
Roma "La Sapienza", invita tutti ad aderire al proprio appello
per salvare la vita di Henry dall'esecuzione, inviando il seguente testo
al Governatore del North Carolina, come avvenuto in passato, via fax o
per e-mail.

a morte il sig. Henry Lee Hunt, nonostante dubbie testimonianze da parte
dell'accusa e un processo condizionato da una difesa inadeguata
dell'imputato.

APPEAL BROUGHT IN BY THE COMMUNITY OF SANT'EGIDIO TO SAVE THE LIFE OF HENRY
LEE HUNT, SENTENCED TO DEATH
Your
Excellency
We
are writing to express our deep concern over a ruling that sentenced to
death Mr.Henry Lee Hunt , even though he was convicted by doubtful proofs
brought in by the prosecutors and a trial tainted by an inadequate lawyer
appointed by the court.
We
urge you to intervene on his behalf to prevent this cruel and inhuman
punishment from being meted out against him. We implore you to ensure that
this cruel and inhuman sentence is not carried out.
