Saeed era minorenne allorch� venne
accusato dell’omicidio di un ragazzo di 22 anni. I fatti risalgono al
2003, quando aveva solo 17 anni. L’assassinio avvenne nel corso di una
lite per banali motivi fra ragazzi in un bar. Saeed ha sempre dichiarato
risolutamente, ma invano, di non avere avuto alcuna intenzione di
commettere un delitto. Per il codice penale iraniano, infatti, un
omicidio si considera premeditato quando l’autore compie
intenzionalmente un’azione che sia comunque letale, anche se non abbia
la volont� di uccidere. La sua esecuzione, per ora sospesa, potrebbe
tuttavia avvenire in qualsiasi momento.

La Comunit� di Sant’Egidio invita tutti ad aderire al proprio appello per salvare la vita di Saeed dalla condanna a morte, inviando il seguente testo alle competenti autorit� dell’Iran, via fax o per e-mail.

Scrivo la mia profonda preoccupazione in
merito alla sentenza che ha condannato a morte il giovane Saeed Jazee,
minorenne all’epoca dei fatti ed autore di un delitto non premeditati.
Mi appello soprattutto al fatto che l’Iran
sia un paese aderente all’International Covenant on Civil and Political
Rights (ICCPR) e alla Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC), che
vietano l’utilizzo della pena capitale nei confronti dei minorenni al tempo
del reato commesso.
La esorto ad intervenire affinch� sia
scongiurata tale pena crudele e disumana.

to save the life Saeed Jazee,
sentenced to death
Your Excellency
I am writing to express my
deep concern over a ruling that sentenced to death the young boy Saeed Jazee,
who is a juvenile and alleged author of a not premeditated murder.
I appeal mainly remembering
that Iran is a country party to both the International Covenant on Civil and
Political Rights (ICCPR) and the Convention on the Rights of the Child
(CRC), which prohibits the use of the death penalty against juveniles.
I urge you to intervene on his
behalf to prevent this cruel and inhuman punishment from being meted out
against him.
I implore you to ensure that
this cruel and inhuman sentence is not carried out.
