The Pope grants Audience to the Representatives of Sant'Egidio in the World
A delegation of the Communities of Sant'Egidio from 42 countries, gathered in Rome for a meeting, have been granted an audience by the Holy Father, who addressed them with great affection.

 

Wednesday 21 November, during the General Audience, pope John Paul II received the representatives of the Communities of Sant'Egidio from 42 countries in Africa, Asia, Europe and America, who have gathered in Rome for a meeting on the subject "The Gospel of Peace".

After having heard the song which welcomed him, the Pope addressed them with great affection, saying: 

"I greet the Community of Sant'Egidio, Thank for your presence and also for your distinctive song: "We have neither gold, nor silver", which makes you recognisable everywhere. When you sing it, one immediately knows: it's Sant'Egidio".
