Rome, Italy, 6 Feb - The president of the Republic, Carlo Azeglio Ciampi, received a delegation from the Comunita' di Sant'Egidio and the Association "Trenta ore per la Vita" at the Quirinale this morning. After speeches by Monsignor Vincenzo Paglia, Spritual Assistant of the Comunita' di Sant'Egidio, Mario Marazziti, Responsible for Communications in the Community and Lorella Cuccarini, Founding Partner and Spokesperson for the Association, the president made a small speech to all those present. The Association "Trenta ore per la Vita" collects funds for social projects of assistance, prevention and treatment of the most serious illnesses, combats social unease and poverty and promotes the integration of marginalised sections of the community. The funds collected during the TV programme "Trenta ore per la Vita" will be used to create a network of residential assistance nationwide aimed at old people who are in a state of destitution. A part of the funds are destined for four special childhood projects, both in Italy and in Africa.
