Mozambique: President to address ecumenical peace conference in France

Maputo, Sept. 9 (Lusa) - President Armando Guebuza will travel to France next week to address an ecumenical conference organized by the Community of Sant' Eg�dio, the Catholic lay organization that mediated the 1992 peace accord in Mozambique's civil war, the president's office announced.

Guebuza, a presidential aide told Lusa Thursday, would address the opening session of the conference in Lyon Sunday.

In a communiqu� issued in Maputo, the Rome-based Community of Sant' Eg�dio said its 19th International Encounter of Prayer for Peace would gather around the theme: The Courage of Humanism for Peace.

"Representatives of world religions and cultures" would meet Sept. 11-13 in Lyon to "reaffirm the strength of dialogue", the community said.
