President Blaise Compaore of Burkina Faso left Ouagadougou early Monday for Italy where he will participate in the 2006 edition of the world inter-religious meeting on Monday and Tuesday in Assisi under the aegis of the Sant`Egidio community.
According to a press release from his office, Compaore will moderate a debate on the prospects of co-operation between Africa and Europe.
The inter-religious meetings date to the Day of Prayer for Peace in the world convocation, which Pope John Paul II organised in October 1986.
The meetings seek to strengthen peace in the world by advocating dialogue among religions and cultures.
