In the Cathedral of Naples, Feb. 22, Cardinal Sepe, archbishop of Naples, presided at the solemn liturgy to celebrate the 43rd anniversary of the founding of the Community of Sant'Egidio. Many have participated in this festival: the authorities, friends, supporters and many poor people filled the Cathedral of Naples. Also present were the Bishop of Avellino Mgr. Francesco Marino and Msgr. Giovanni D'Alise of Ariano Irpino.

In his homily, Cardinal Sepe said: "I myself as a bishop can not help but express my appreciation and gratitude for what makes this community in our church. Personally I have had occasion in many circumstances, to meet, see, assess how the Community incarnates the Gospel of Christ in such difficult situations, the on so many frontiers of human weakness: as in prisons, in the poorest disadvantaged and problematic neighborhoods, among elderly and disabled people, including immigrants, or among children in difficulties between the Roma and the many homeless. "

Gino Battaglia, head of the community of Naples, thanked all the participants and expressed her gratitude to all those who through their support have accompanied the path of the Community in recent years.

After Mass, Cardinal Sepe wanted to greet all the participants, focusing in particular with disabled friends, many of whom have received the sacrament of confirmation in the festive liturgy on the first Sunday of Advent that the Cardinal wanted to dedicate to them.
