On the occasion of the Women's Day the Bulgarian and Rumanian communities in Rome and the Peace People of the Community of Sant'Egidio will have a celebration happening in Piazza San Cosimato, in Trastevere, the date is Sunday, March 6 at 11:00 am.
In Romania and other Eastern European countries, from 1 to 8 March 8, together with the International Women's Day is celebrated the arrival of spring, by presenting the martisor (diminutive of March in Romania), an amulet for good luck that expresses a happiness wish.
The "martisor" consists of a red and a white wire to be worn all the time during these days, and it is an ancient tradition remained very much alive in Romania. The authentic martisor cannot be found in Italy. Those who will be offered to the participants have been ordered and brought in specially from Romania! The initiative stems from a desire to share this tradition by promoting the knowledge and the meeting between people of different cultures. Along with this it will be offered to all women a little mimosa branch.
An all Romanians band of artists will be playing. Drinks and Romanian food will also be offered to all participants.
