Saudi
Arabia executed 2 Indian men on Thursday for stabbing to death a
co-worker, the official Saudi Press Agency reported. It quoted an
Interior Ministry statement as saying the 2 had been convicted of
the premeditated murder of the victim, also an Indian man. The
executions brought to at least 15 the number of people put to death
in the kingdom this year. At least 121 people were executed in
Saudi Arabia in 2000. The kingdom applies strict Islamic sharia
laws, executing murderers, rapists and drug smugglers, usually by
beheading in public.
