president moves on death penalty
The
Kyrgyz president, Askar Akayev, has urged his government to
consider abolishing the death penalty as he extended a moratorium
on the punishment for another year. According to the presidential
spokesman , Osmonakun Ibraimov, the president ordered the
government to consider the question before July next year. He said
that President Akayev wanted to see the death penalty banned
completely.
