Zafran assured of support in stoning to death case

KOHAT: The wife of Governor NWFP Lieutenant General (retd) Syed Iftikhar Hussain Shah visited the district Jail Kohat and met Zafran Bibi allegedly involved in Zina case on Tuesday.

Provincial minister for law Athar Minullah, District Nazim Malik Asad and some ladies accompanied her. Talking to Zafran Bibi, Begum Governor said that every effort was being made to provide justice to the women folk at all level and the government would provide support to Zafran Bibi in the stoning to death case. The lady prisoner said the case was wrong and fabricated by her father-in-law to trap her for his personal interest.

 The husband of Zafran Bibi Neimatullah, two sons Israr Khan and Rehman Khan also visited the jail to see her on this occasion. Begum Iftikhar said that Pakistan believed in the rule of law and justice to the common man.

 She said that a committee had been constituted to look into the cases of ladies and innocent children in jails and ensure full justice to them. The committee would collect the details of the prisoners to review their cases.

 The provincial minister for law said that the case of Zafran Bibi has been challenged in Federal Shariat Court whereby the decision of the Additional Session Judge in the case has been suspended.
