TEXAS: Death row chaplain asks moratorium

Former Texas death row chaplain Carroll Pickett will be among 4 speakers at a workshop Saturday on building support for a moratorium against the death penalty.

 The event is from 1 to 5 p.m. at Centennial Hall, north of the Chapel of the Incarnate Word, 4707 Broadway.

 Sponsors are the peace and justice committees of the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word and the Archdiocese of San Antonio, University of the Incarnate Word campus ministry and the San Antonio peaceCENTER.

 r speakers include Jeanette Popp, whose daughter was killed in a highly publicized Austin Pizza Hut murder in 1988.
