Samuel Gallamore, 31 anni, � stato messo a morte. 

WASHINGTON, 15 GEN - Mettendo a morte nel carcere di Huntsville con un'iniezione letale un triplice omicida, il Texas ha compiuto, martedi' sera, la prima esecuzione del 2003 negli Stati Uniti. Altre sei esecuzioni nello Stato sono previste entro la fine del mese.

   Samuel Gallamore aveva 31 anni ed era originario del New Mexico: era stato condannato per avere ucciso, nel marzo del 1992, con un complice, a percosse e a coltellate una donna parzialmente paralizzata di 74 anni, suo marito di 83 e la loro figlia di 44, in una casa di campagna.

   In una dichiarazione diffusa dopo la sua morte, Gallamore ha detto: ''Vorrei chiedere scusa e dire che mi dispiace, ma le parole sembrano cosi' vuote e vane''. Poco prima dell'esecuzione, il triplice assassino aveva avuto il perdono ai familiari delle sue vittime.

   Gallamore e' la 290.ma persona messa a morte nel Texas dopo la ripresa delle esecuzioni nel 1982.

Texas Executes Man for 1992 Triple Murder

HUNTSVILLE, Texas - A man convicted of beating and stabbing a partially paralyzed woman, her husband and daughter to death in 1992 was executed by injection Tuesday.

 Samuel Gallamore, 31, apologized in a statement distributed

after the execution.

 ``I would like to apologize and say I'm sorry but words seem so hollow and cheap,'' Gallamore said in the statement.

 Gallamore, the first person to be executed in Texas this year, was pronounced dead seven minutes after the lethal drugs began to flow. Six other people on death row are set to die this month.

Gallamore has said his friend, James Steiner, directed him on March 29, 1992, to the rural home where the pair planned a robbery for drug money.

 The two beat Julianna Kenney, her husband, Verle Kenney, and the woman's daughter, Adrienne Arnot. Gallamore then grabbed a knife from the kitchen and slashed all three.

 Steiner received a life sentence.
