JAVIER SUAREZ MEDINA - (Texas)

32 years old

Executed on  august 14, 2002

His story

Javier Suarez Medina is detained in Polunski Unit death row. He was just 19 when he was charged of  murdering a police officer.

His death sentence was issued on the ground of one only doubtful eyewitness: actually it was publicly showed only two years after an alleged previous shooting which he was charged of, when the witness, watching him on TV, indicated him to the judiciary authorities as the murderer, even though at that very moment it was night- he was far away enough from him, just perceiving him under a streetlight in a scarcely minute of time.

Javier had no previous criminal record at all at the time of his arrest. So this foggy witness constituted alone an aggravating circumstance to the charge on his behalf, determining the overturning of his sentence from life prison without parole to death penalty.
