Their
story
The
brothers Derek and Alex King, 13 and 12 respectively, are detained
in the Escambia County jail, Florida, waiting for a possible
sentence to life prison without parole. Last October 17th 2002 the
judge enjoined both prosecutor and the counsel for the defence to
seek an ultimate mediation. If that does not happen, a new trial
will start, which will be carried out according to procedures for
adults, as in the past. The two boys are accused to have murdered
their 40 years old father, Terry King, in November 26th 2001.
The
prosecutor excluded the chance of a lesser sentence, and besides he
did not hold in due consideration the role played by a man who
previously molested the two youngsters.
Terry
King�s relatives, on their account, are looking forward that the
two alleged teen offenders will be tried by a court for juveniles.

KING FROM LIFE PRISON WITHOUT PAROLE

are writing to express our deep concern over the fate of Derek and Alex King
who might be sentenced to life prison without parole by an ordinary court
for adults, while they should be tried by a court for juvenile offenders,
due to their age.
