Philippine court commutes Japanese man's death sentence

The Philippine Supreme Court has commuted the death sentence of a 47-year-old Japanese man convicted for drug trafficking to life imprisonment, a court decision obtained Thursday said.

The court also reduced the fine of 10 million pesos (about $180,800) imposed on Hideshi Suzuki to 1 million pesos.
