Garoua (Cameroon): At the School of Peace children learn to be in solidarity with the poor: a visit to the city's public neglected children in the institution
July 8, 2011

At the School of Peace of Garoua in northern Cameroon, children learn many things, among them the solidarity with the weakest.

For this, last June, they went to visit the orphans living in the city's public institute. These children have been abandoned, often at birth, in trash cans, on the railroad, churches and mosques.

The city's social services bring them to the institute. Some are then given up for adoption, but others, especially the disabled, cannot easily find a family to welcome them. Currently, children sheltered are a dozen.

Children of Peace School have brought gifts for everyone: soap and biscuits.

Donations appreciated, because the institute is very poor, and often there is not enough - the soap for doing laundry, for instance, was over - and it is not easy to raise children properly.
