Bugomola is a village in South Uganda, in the district of Mbarara, near the border with Tanzania. Some months ago, the local parish asked the Community of Sant'Egidio for help: some sewing machines and the materials to start a sewing laboratory where some girls, most of whom are orphans, could learn a job.
The area is very poor and the Community immediately answered the request, by sending ten sewing machines, that could work also without electric enery, and the materials to start the activity. In the pictures we received some days ago we can see how people in Bugomola have already started to work: the small sewing school has already began to function. |
