In America

Bolivia

In Bolivia, at Cochabamba, some girls from the Community go to the women's prison where there are also many children, together with their mothers. The women inmates, poor, at times illiterate, are frequently alone and incapable of taking on their difficult situation. The numerous difficulties linked to the confined life and to the need for finding legal help are added to ordinary life problems: how to raise the children, how to support their family from whom they are separated. We seek to respond to all of these needs with a constant and loving presence. For the children, the "escuelita" (children's club) within the prison is a precious help for growth.

We organise a Christmas dinner for the women and children in the prison at Cochabamba. As many as 500 persons have participated up to now.
