RALLIES

On May 1999 a rally was held in Rome that was

organized by

the movement of the Country of the Rainbow
"GIVING CHILDREN A CHANCE TO SPEAK: SMALL VOICES AGAINST GREAT INJUSTICES."

The rally, held in one of the most beautiful squares of Rome, Piazza Navona, saw the participation of more than 7,000 people, largely Roman children and teen-agers; hundreds of schools took part. These kids wanted their voices to be heard in favor of their peers who are in difficulty in other parts of the world.

The rally was held to conclude an awareness program that the children and adolescents of the Country of the Rainbow movement had been working on in their schools. The effort included exhibits, meetings, and the production of the materials related to the effort.

The testimonies of children and adolescents from many parts of the world, each of them on a different issue, were heard in the square by a multicolored crowd that at the end of the rally added their voices to an appeal demanding the end of many injustices which victimize children throughout the world.
