We had a great party on May 1st, at Piazza d'Armi, around the tent of the Community of Sant'Egidio.
The place became familiar to who is in the tent city - the largest at L'Aquila - because the Community's tent is open every day and the volunteers are always available to offer help and support in this difficult moment.
But on May 1st it turned into a "stage" of a party that involved young and elderly.
To animate it - "armed" of guitars, keyboards and percussions - a multiethnic group of the "Peace People" came from Rome. African and Latin American songs and dances have alternated with those - more traditional - of the Abruzzo region.
For an afternoon the tent city was full of joyful and dancing rows of children and families.
Among them, many are the immigrants that have been living in Abruzzo for years and that lost all with the earthquake. Also the weather, finally a little more lukewarm, contributed to the success of the party.
The tent of the Community remains open all days to welcome the requests of help and of friendship. |
