In the Basilica of Santa María del Mar in Barcelona there was a liturgy to celebrate the 46th anniversary of the Community of Sant'Egidio. At the ceremony, presided over by Bishop of Liege Jean-Pierre Delville, there were present young and old, people that live on the street and new Europeans, there are so many that the Community of Barcelona has met in years of prayer and friendship with the poor. It was a family party, "where no difference is made between those that serve and those that are served".
Together with the poor, also delegations of Sant'Egidio from all over Spain and Rome, along with representatives of local institutions, of movements and religious orders participated in the celebration. In recent years, many have worked in Barcelona with Sant'Egidio constituting a movement of peace, a force of solidarity and dialogue to promote coexistence between different peoples.
