A spokesman for the Italian-based Catholic organization, Sant'Egidio, Mario Marazziti said the inter-religious confab would dwell on further promoting the dialogue with other religions and cultures over the next years.
He admitted that the West still had 'too little information' about various aspects of Islam.
Marazziti also pointed out that the first decade of the 21st century was riddled with numeorus conflicts throughout the world.
He added, 'Around 137,000 people have lost their lives as a result of the western wars in Afghanistan, Pakistan and Iraq.'
The Sant'Egidio official stressed it was time to leave the era of 'war among civilizations' behind and to further promote a religious and cultural dialogue over the next years.

Around 300 high-ranking religious representatives from all around the globe will gather in Munich to discuss various issues including migration, inter-religious dialogue, Arab revolutions, the situation of Roma Gypsies in Europe, social justice and integration.
