Some
Characteristics

Over the years we came to feel we had taken on a new responsibility: not
only to take care of these children and teenagers, living out with
them a deep sense of familiarity and helping them to grow in a
serene way, but also to support their families.
Attentiveness to the individual needs of each child characterises
our commitment: each educational activity, each initiative is thought out
in relation to everyone's needs. Because every child is different, not
only the difficulties, but also each child's potential and capabilities
are carefully taken into consideration. In the People's School the
remedial tutoring is personalised and specific projects are planned
according to the needs of each individual child..

Parties and games are essential aspects of the People's School
method. These are special occasion in which children learn how to be with
others, in a cheerful and serene way.

The cultural gap that the more disadvantaged children face in
school compelled us to work to overcome that very divide, so
that these children are no longer excluded by the schools, and so they are
guaranteed the chance to learn and complete their education.
However, even if scholastic support is an unquestionable starting point of
our service, we feel driven by the responsibility to follow the growth
of children and teenagers in every aspect of their lives
especially if the child's family wants such care or cannot provide it.
We cannot pass up the chance to educate these young people so
they might meet the world's great challenges and prospects with an attiude
of genuine participation. Despite their apparent cultural
disadvantages, they long to open up personally and culturally.
