The family home
In the house opened in Trastevere in Rome in 1988, the Community of Sant'Egidio offers hospitality to nine people that till that moment lived on the street. This home represents a response to the need of a warmer alternative to a hostel, where guests remain without time limits, instead of what normally occurs in other structures for homeless.
They are people of different ages, men and women with difficult life experiences and our house often represents for them the first true home. Here everyone has found the warmth and stability of a family.
Caravans
In consideration of the necessity to find a shelter to the homeless who have not found hospitality by the welcome centres, the Community of Sant'Egidio put at their disposal some caravans stationed in different places in Rome, as temporary solution to the lack of housing.
