THERE ARE MANY USEFUL THINGS
AMONG THOSE WHICH ARE THROWN AWAY.
JUST THINK ABOUT IT!

THERE ARE PEOPLE WHO HAVE NOTHING TO WEAR!

Many persons in the northern and southern parts of the world have nothing to wear. For this reason, the Community collects clothing in good condition, suitable to each person, situation and climate.
The clothing is sorted and then distributed at the welcome centres of the Community or is given out directly to people on the streets, to the homeless, to poor elderly people, to Gypsies, to hospital patients or to those who are imprisoned.
Part of the clothing collected is sent to poor nations, to those stricken by natural disasters or to those suffering other types of emergencies. Here the clothing is distributed directly by the Community or by the local Caritas agency and by the missionaries the Community supports.

In 1999 the Community sent and distributed 12 tons of clothing, sorted article by article, to Albania for the Kosovo refugees, to South Sudan for the people stricken by famine and war, to Nicaragua for the victims of hurricane Mitch, to Greece and Turkey for the victims of the earthquake.
In the year 2000, 60 tons of clothing were distributed in Rome.
Even that which could not be distributed because it was in poor condition was not lost. It was sold as rags and that which was earned was used to purchase new underwear, blankets, etc. and to pay for the costs of shipping clothing abroad.
