He did his formation in Rome, Paris and Zurich, where he obtained a doctorate in Law in 1957.
Amongst the many international positions he has held during a long career, we remember particularly his experience in the area of diplomacy, such as his positions in service of the Suisse government, the years he has served as president of the International Committee of the Red Cross, and his work as president of the International Centre for Humanitarian Demining in Geneva. Currently he is the honorary president of the Suisse Foundation Initiatives et Changement International of Caux, which promotes initiatives for peace, justice, health and development. |
