The Community of Sant'Egidio expresses its sorrow and profound condemnation of the terrible attack on the editorial staff of the weekly Charlie Hebdo in Paris, which made twelve dead and many injured. A horrible act whose brutal violence we condemn.
To the victims, their families and those that were their friends and neighbours, we give all our participation in pain, our support and our solidarity. Our deep concern in the face of violence so unheard drives us to want to talk more forcefully in favour of peace, precious but fragile good, which must be preserved at all costs. Violence is never a solution to solve the problems that divide men and women.
On the contrary, it is peace the way to follow so that tragedies like this may be avoided. |
