Thanks to the solidarity of many people, manifested by the contributions received after the appeal launched by the Community of Sant'Egidio for fund-raising for the people of Kenya affected by drought, it was possible to make a second distribution of food in the district of East Pokot, 300 km north of Nairobi, one of the most arid and poorest in the country.
It was the same members of the Community of Sant'Egidio to bring in the towns of Nakuru and Kositei Chemolingot over 9 tons of corn.
To this was added a quantity of clothing that has been specifically raised by members of the Sant'Egidio Community in Kenya to respond to an urgent need of the population. Thousands flocked to receive this funding, especially valuable in a situation of great need.
Next week, a third distribution of food aid destined to the population of the village of Tongulbei is planned |
