The funerals of Sister Lucia Pulici, Sister Olga Raschietti and Sister Bernadette Boggian, Xaverian sisters, killed last week in Bujumbura in Burundi, were held today at the Cathedral of Bukavu in the Democratic Republic of Congo. The Community of Sant'Egidio prayed for them during the days of prayer for peace in Antwerp remembering their sacrifice. The Community of Sant'Egidio of Bukavu took part in the solemn funerals, bringing the closeness of the youth to the young Xaverian order and to all the missionaries that, for many years, have been at the service of the Gospel and of the poorest in Africa. Their choice to be buried in the Congo, in the country where they spent their lives with generosity for the children, challenges us to live with more force the proclamation and witness to the Gospel in a region still marked by excessive violence". |
