Today, May 17, 2010, was held in Rome, in the Sala della Clemenza of Palazzo Altieri, the V International Congress "NO JUSTICE WITHOUT LIFE" promoted by the Sant'Egidio Community, on the theme: "From the Moratiorium to the Abolition of Death Penalty".
Political and civil society, parliamentarians, judges patricipated to the meeting They came from Kazakhstan, Cambodia, Indonesia, Philippines, East Timor, Mongolia, South Korea, Mexico, Uruguay, Ecuador, France, Spain, Eritrea, Angola, Benin, Burkina Faso, Cape Verde, Congo-Brazzaville, Côte d'Ivoire, Gabon, Guinea, Kenya, South Africa, Mali, Mozambique, Niger, Rwanda, Sao Tome, Somalia, Tanzania, Zambia.
In opening the conference, Marco Impagliazzo, president of the Community of Sant'Egidio, said the reasons that are at the root of this meeting, now in its fifth edition. He furthermore asked a question that was received and investigated during the whole morning by the various speakers:: "Confronting widespread violence in many parts of the world, what may be the responses of States? ".
