On 15 May, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Praia, the Headquarters Agreement was signed between the Republic of Cape Verde and the Community of Sant'Egidio. The agreement was signed by the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs of Cape Verde, Mrs. Maria Jesus Miranda and don Angelo Romano of the Community of Sant'Egidio, in the presence of former President Pedro Pires and other authorities of the country. The Secretary of State stressed that the agreement marks a milestone in the history of the excellent relations between Sant'Egidio and the Republic of Cape Verde.
After the ceremony, don Angelo Romano was received by the Prime Minister of Cape Verde, José Maria Neves, and held a conference in the meeting hall of the Presidency, on the action of peace and interreligious dialogue of Sant'Egidio, especially in West Africa. The conference was attended by the Prime Minister, former President Pedro Pires, the Ministers of Interior, Justice, Health, along with a large group of senior officials of the judiciary, the army and the administration of the Republic of Cape Verde. |
