From the Eco-solidarity village of the Community of Sant’Egidio clothes and shoes were sent to those who lost everything in the shipwreck.
More than 300 foreign workers of the Costa Concordia, the ship that sank on 13 January near the Island of Giglio, were left with nothing. They are 180 Philipino and 170 Indonesian citizens, far from their homes and families, who asked the Community of Sant'Egidio for help.
At the Eco-solidarity village, the centre where the Community of Sant’Egidio collects and re-distributes food, clothes and other kinds of goods – through the collections organized by the Community and the solidarity of many people – warm clothing, coats and shoes were immediately sent and delivered to the shipwrecked workers. |
