The initiatives of solidarity of the Community of Sant’Egidio in favour of the Northern Kenyan population affected by the drought are ongoing.
Last Tuesday 7th February the distribution of 10 tons of foodstuffs - among those beans, corn, oil for cooking – started in the area of Baragoi, 650 km north of Nairobi. The food will reach 12 places and around 4,000 people.
The distribution was made possible by the funds collected in the last months and the Community of Sant’Egidio in Kenya manages it in collaboration with the missionary fathers of the Consolata.
Since last summer, 8 distributions of food took place for a total of over 80 tons of food.
