Metropolitan of Volokolamsk Hilarion, chairman of the Department for External Relations of the Moscow Patriarchate, visited the Community of Sant'Egidio in Rome.

During the meeting, which took place in an atmosphere of special friendship and fraternal cordiality, they addressed the situation of Christians in contexts of discrimination and persecution, the situation in Syria, the challenges of the presence of Christians in Asia and those of Christian witness in Europe.

Special attention was given to the relationship and cooperation between the Community of Sant'Egidio and the Russian Orthodox Church.
