Rome: 1 May Party for the homeless
A family pic-nic is a common sight on 1 May.
But the pictures of this pic-nic, held in Rome, at the Irish College, not far from the basilica of St. John in Lateran, show a special family's party.
It is the family of the "Friends on the street" of the Community of Sant'Egidio: homeless people who - thanks to the soup-kitchen in Via Dandolo, the help centres of the Community or the meals on the streets distributed in many places in the city - have met friends, established solidarity bonds who actually represent, for many, the chance of a new familiar context.
Over 400 took part in the party: among them, also some youth of the Community of Sant'Egidio from East Europe who shared this day of feast and friendship.
