The Community of Sant'Egidio, which from the beginning of the kidnapping followed all the stages of the negotiation for the release of Father Mateusz Dziedzic, a Polish missionary priest in the Central African Republic, and of the other Cameroonian and Central African hostages taken prisoner by the Front Démocratique du Peuple Centrafricain (FDPC), expressed its satisfaction and joy for the release of Father Dziedzic taken place today thanks to the intervention of the Government of Cameroon.
Finally some good news for a country that has gone through a difficult situation for many months.
In recent weeks, the Community of Sant'Egidio has been in contact with the head of FDPC asking repeatedly for the release of father Dziedzic and the other citizens taken captive, as a humanitarian and goodwill gesture.
The Community of Sant'Egidio, for its part, will continue its action in favour of peace and reconciliation in the Central African Republic. |
