Andrea Riccardi, the founder of the Community of Sant'Egidio, met yesterday in Paris the French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius. The interview, in the aftermath of the tragic events of Paris, addressed, in particular, the issue of the promotion of a culture of encounter to build peace. This promotion refers both to Europe and to international scenarios such as Central Africa, Iraq and Syria.
Andrea Riccardi launched the appeal "Save Aleppo" last June for the salvation of the city. Aleppo is a cradle of dialogue and coexistence between Christians and Muslims now at the centre of the fierce war of Syria. Riccardi also introduced the Minister Fabius to the project of an International Conference on Syria and the future of Christians in the Middle East. |
