Cyangugu is a town in Rwanda about 12 miles from the border with the Congo, which is still closed because of the serious violence that over the last several weeks has bloodied the area of Bukavu. There 1300 people have come to seek refuge in a camp called Nyagatare, while another 3500 have found what shelter they can in the town itself.
The situation in the camp is very difficult, and so the Communities of Sant’Egidio in Rwanda have organized the distribution of emergency aid (food, clothing, and medicine) for all of the refugees in the camp. |
