On the occasion of the remembrance of the deportation of the Jews of Rome on 16 October 1943, Pope Francis this morning, in the house of St. Martha, received Enzo Camerino, a Roman Jew deported at the age of 12 years, along with so many children and adolescents, and one of the few Roman survivors of the Auschwitz concentration camp.
Enzo Camerino has lived in Canada for a long time, but for two years now he has participated in the march in memory of 16 October, sponsored by the Community of Sant'Egidio and the Jewish Community of Rome. He was accompanied at the hearing with the Pope by Andrea Riccardi and Paola Piscitelli.
