MANILA - Venti di pace a Manila. Dopo decenni di guerriglia nell`isola di Mindanao, che ha causato 15o mila morti, è stato firmato uno storico accordo tra il governo filippino e il Moro Islamic Liberation Front (Milf). E tra le organizzazioni internazionali che hanno accompagnato le trattative c`è la Comunità di Sant`Egidio insieme all`Indonesiana Muhammaddiyah, importante sigla islamica moderata. «E la riprova di quanto il fattore religioso possa essere determinante nella soluzione dei conflitti», ha commentato il presidente di Sant`Egidio, Marco Impagliazzo. L`accordo prevede la nascita, entro il 2016, del Bangsamoro. La nuova entità, a maggioranza musulmana, avrà una sua autonomia e la possibilità di accedere alle ingenti risorse minerali presenti. In cambio, il Milf dovrà sciogliere gradualmente le sue milizie (circa 12 mila uomini). La Comunità di Sant`Egidio, con il suo inviato Alberto Quattrucci, seguirà da vicino le prossime tappe per rafforzare la pace a Mindanao, tra cui un importante convegno interreligioso che si terrà il prossimo giugno a Cotabato, capitale di Bangsamoro.
